"Satisfying packaging requires, exploring technological innovation" is the motto that has driven Acma throughout its existence, from its foundation to the present-day. July 31, 1924 Acma was established by Mr.Gaetano Barbieri, and it was signed a milestone for the Italian automatic packaging machine industry.
In the second half of the 1920s, Acma set up the first industrial production of two powder packaging machines (the Acma 713 and 720) for a product called IDROLITINA, made by the Gazzoni Company.
In 1930 Bruto Carpigiani, the leader of the Bolognese designers in that sector, introduced the so called "Z-shaped wheel", a device that transformed a continuous rotating movement into an intermittent one.
The use of this kind of movement allowed the introduction of new models, such as the revolutionary Acma 722 candy wrapper.
During the Second World War, Acma is declared an auxiliary factory for military industry.
The late 1940s was characterized by the development of numerous packaging machine models for food and chemical products. Among them the most important was the Acma 721/1 model, the first soap bar wrapping machine manufactured by Acma.
The widespread increase in consumer demand and the quick development of consumer behaviour following the radical social changes of the 1950s, resulted in the creation of new markets and products.
In 1956 Acma designed its first machines for detergent powder filling boxes and cartons.
During the 1960s and the 1970s, the need for greater specialization in the sectors where automatic machines were used, was becoming increasingly evident.
Thus the Company's main design and manufacturing areas has come to be: wrapping, box packing machines and equipment for the final packaging of soap bars, detergents, confectionary products, biscuits and yeasts.
In the same period Acma renovated its production process by adopting new technologies such as numeric-control machines.
Within general world-wide trend to grouping small firms in more powerful technological and commercial structure, in 1986 CORNIANI leader for the manufacturing of filling machines and capping process, joined Acma group.
In 2001 Corniani has been partnered to OCEA , a company manufacturing labelling machines, out standing for its capability to make custom-made production either with small machines and rotary labellers, thus establishing the born pole Acma - Corniani - Ocea Liquid division.
Electronics has taken on an increasing importance in packaging machines, moving from the role of checking and controlling, to the broader role of coordinating the transportation and conveyance.
Modern perpetual-motion machines have been designed and the Company is now the leading supplier of complex packaging lines.
ACMA GD'S COMPANY POLICY: A company doesn't produce only tangible goods, it also creates and offers its partners an industrial tradition reflecting its values, ideas and experiences.
Acma has come to dominate the packaging industry following a guiding principle that has become the synthesis of its company's identity: Offering to the client in the market areas it covers, concrete and profitable solutions to all its packaging problems thus becoming an ideal partner in the mutual process of striving excellence.
